Change is an inside job

Most people want change, as long as they don’t have to change.

We like to see drastic results, without feeling the impact of drastic change. We want big change that can easily be seen, as long as it’s their fault and not ours that we have to change.

But change is an inside job. It starts with vulnerability. You need to see the problem before and ask for help in order to change.

You can’t expect long lasting external change if something internal doesn’t change too.

When you are your own teacher you might miss the obvious. You need someone external to show you the context and the impact of your blind spot.

You need to do things differently to expect a different result. You need to think differently. You need to see alternatives and be open to being wrong. You need to find someone outside with a different recipe to what you’ve been following and then try it for yourself.

You can only get better when you learn to bend and when you learn to ask for help and advice.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

As Nelson Mandela said, “The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

Rather than blaming others for the struggles in your life, it is important to focus on self-improvement. After you have accepted that you are the only one who can change your situation, you will have the internal strength to turn your life around and become a betterl version of yourself.
